Modern Liberals Loathe
Justice

Dear Editor,
Re: David Frum's Weekly Column--Mar/11-13/95--The Financial Post
David Frum concluded his piece on the death penalty by stating that it's punishment,
not the death penalty, that modern liberals object to. I agree, but would take it
one step further and claim that it's justice that modern liberals loath.
Justice is the virtue of granting to each person that which he (or she) deserves.
It means rewarding the good and punishing the evil. Justice is a human necessity
for survival because people have choice over their own actions, and, in reality,
good actions lead to success and happiness in life, whereas bad actions can harm
or even kill you. We rightly delegate the punishment of criminals to the state in
order to preserve objectivity, and thus protect the innocent from lynch mobs.
Modern liberalism is a complete perversion of justice. Egalitarianism, or what they
pretentiously call "social justice," forcibly punishes ambition and success
while rewarding apathy and failure. Victims are treated like criminals whereas criminals
are treated like victims. Multiculturalism or affirmative action institutionalizes
the injustice of racism and sexism.
Justice is only one of the virtues we must rescue from the insanity of modern liberalism.
Sincerely,
Glenn Woiceshyn
