Leftist "Thinking (3 short letters)

Dear Editor,

Re: Letter--by Amod Lele--Sep/30/96--The Globe and Mail

Amod Lele claims that the higher car prices caused by coercive unions is a "win-win situation" because: 1) auto workers get paid more, and 2) fewer people can afford those enemies of pristine nature--"private automobiles." Can you guess who will be forced to pay for this double victory?

This is the kind of compartmentalized "thinking" responsible for our current political and economic woes. It amounts to sacrificing the rights (and prosperity) of individuals to the demands of whatever "special-interest" group screams the loudest, manufactures the most lies and wields the most political clout.

Sincerely,

Dear Editor,

Re: "The Illogical Left And The Logic Of Debt--by Peter Cook--Mar/02/95--The Globe and Mail

As Peter Cook rightly observes, left-wing logic is absurd. But it was absurd decades ago before it plundered this nation's wealth and caused so much social upheaval. It was Ayn Rand who, decades ago, debunked the logic of the left in her prophetic bestseller Atlas Shrugged. Certain people hate that fact, but it's true.

Dear Editor,

Re: "An American View"--by Fred Bruning--Mar/20/95--Maclean's Magazine

In his so-called "In Defense Of Affirmative Action," Fred Bruning employed several illogical devices in order to evade the fundamental issues. How, in principle, does the racism underlying affirmative action solve the problem of racism? How does the blatant violation of individual rights achieve social justice?

Sincerely,

Glenn Woiceshyn
