But Is It true?

Dear Editor,

Re: "But Is It True?"--letter by Jonathan Hackett--Nov/15/95--The Globe and Mail

In the true spirit of ecological faith, Jonathan Hackett dismisses Prof. Wildavsky's book, But Is It True? A Citizen's guide to Environmental Health and Safety Issues, as "silly" because it does not blindly accept the sky-is-falling doomsday claims perpetrated by "environmentalists" over the past few decades.

I wonder what planet Mr. Hackett is from because there have been several books out lately by reputable scientists debunking the so-called science behind environmentalist claims.

The ecology crusaders preach an anti-human religion that worships pristine nature as an intrinsic value and condemns virtually all human activity as harmful to the gods of ecosystem integrity and biodiversity. It's an extreme form of original sin designed to make all humans experience a fundamental guilt about their essential nature -- the fact that reason is man's basic means of survival.

Sincerely,

Glenn Woiceshyn
