An Environmentalist's View
on Education
Dear Editor,
Re: "Students need mixture of perspectives on life" -- by Garth Thomson
-- May 6 -- The Calgary Herald
According to environmentalist Garth Thomson all claims to truth on any issue are
biased -- teachers should just expose students to a myriad of views and "let
the learners figure out for themselves what is 'right'." This is the intellectual
poison of modern subjectivism/relativism, which, in essence, would teach children
to judge by feelings -- not facts and logic -- and thereby render them inefficacious
in dealing with reality, and helpless when confronted by intellectual shysters qua
power lusters who prey on their emotions, such as today's environmentalists. Teachers
should teach students abundant factual knowledge and logical-rigorous thinking skills
so that they can achieve success, prosperity and happiness in life.
Sincerely,
