Environmentalist Paranoia
Dear Editor,
Re: "Judge on Merit" -- letter by Stan R. Cox -- May 27 -- The Calgary
Herald.
For decades, environmentalists have been making one paranoiac doomsday prediction
after another regarding global cooling, global warming, killer pesticides (alar,
DDT, etc.), species extinction, resource depletion, ozone holes, acid rain, population
bombs, etc. When experts in the respective field debunk their "scientific"
claims, environmentalists merely move on to another doomsday prediction. In every
case, the prediction accompanies a call for more statism -- for handing more power
to the government at the expense of individual rights. The twentieth century is one
of the bloodiest in history thanks to fascism and communism -- two brands of statism.
So when I pointed out (May 3) the fact that global warming is just another paranoiac
doomsday myth used to push a socialist-statist agenda (Kyoto Protocol), and then
suggest that it has something to do with leftists migrating into the environmental
movement over the decades, Stan Cox and other pro-environmentalists -- rather than
address the facts -- accuse me of paranoia. How ironic and fascinating!
Sincerely,
Glenn Woiceshyn
