"Reverse Racism" is Pure Racism

Re: "Discrimination"--letters by Iain Grant and Judith Myers--Oct/01/96 --The Globe and Mail

People like Iain Grant and Prof. Judith Myers still don't get it. Hiring quotas based on race, sex, or other unchosen physiological trait amounts to placing physiology above intellectual (and chosen) traits such as ambition, ability, merit, character and ideas. This is pure racism or pure bigotry.

Their basic premise is that a female student is better off being instructed (or represented) by a female professor than a male professor, where intellectual considerations are secondary. As a white male, I would be far better off having an intelligent, knowledgeable and objective black woman as a professor than a neurotic white man who preaches the twin insanities of relativism and tribalism. Physiology is irrelevant here.

Also, Prof. Myers' and Mr. Grant (and the whole "reverse-racism" crowd) imply that a white man today should be punished (via quotas) for the alleged racism or bigotry of other white men. This is pure racism used to destroy justice. No individual can be held morally responsible for the actions of those who merely share the same physiology.
Hiring quotas will only make people more conscious of physiological traits (such as race) and less conscious of individual traits such as ability and character. This can only breed and inflame racism, bigotry and strife, as illustrated by recent trends -- and by Mr. Grant's insinuation that any white male who is against quotas must be a racist or bigot.
