Ozone Smokescreen

Re: "The High Cost of Ozone Day"--by Terence Corcoran--Sept.
16, 1997--The Globe and Mail
Dear Editor,
For those who naively believe that environmentalism is about making the world a safer
place for humans, Terence Corcoran's excellent report on the $ billions wasted on
eco-scares related to ozone depletion might seem baffling. But for those who recognize
environmentalism as a movement geared to enslaving mankind and sacrificing man to
nature, the destruction of $ billions--money that would have gone towards making
the world safer for humans--is no surprise at all.
After all, didn't people naively believe that the goal of communism was to improve
the living standard of the working class? Those few (e.g. Ayn Rand) who knew the
communists' real goal--enslaving mankind and sacrificing the individual to the state--weren't
surprised to witness the poverty, misery and death left in its wake.
And when it became obvious to many Westerners that communism couldn't yield prosperity,
the choice was to either abandon the principles underlying communism or abandon prosperity.
During the 1960's and 70's, many pro-communist leftists decided to abandon prosperity
and thus joined the environmental movement to campaign against prosperity's cause:
reason, freedom, technology and industry, i.e., capitalism.
Things aren't so baffling when you open your eyes.
Sincerely,
Glenn Woiceshyn
